Sustainable Green Metal Buildings

With steel being the most recycled material on the planet, metal building systems are the poster child for sustainability and green buildings. A manufacturer’s ability to design and produce buildings meeting energy criteria could well shape the future of that company and its Builders. As an active member of the MBMA Energy Committee, Kirby Building Systems is ahead of the curve concerning energy efficient buildings. The typical Kirby building is manufactured from over 70% recycled steel. And at the end of its useful life, your Kirby building can be recycled into a variety of steel products including new cars, appliances, buildings and bridges.

Kirby Steel Building with Solar Panels

Kirby is an ISO14001:2015 Certified Metal Building Manufacturer

A company saying it is committed to environmental and sustainable concepts is one thing, achieving ISO 14001:2015 certification is quite another. In order for an organization to be awarded this certificate it must be externally audited by an accredited audit firm. For Kirby, this rigorous, demanding process took a full year and included education and training for every team member.

We invested months of planning and research to reach the goal. The process was challenging, to say the least, but an extremely worthwhile investment, as it taught us how to better use resources and protect the environment.

LEED® Certified Buildings

The LEED green building certification system is the preeminent program for rating the design, construction, and operation of green buildings. By using less energy, LEED certified buildings save money for families, businesses, and taxpayers; reduce greenhouse gas emissions; and contribute to a healthier environment for residents, workers, and the larger community.

LEED® certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building or community was designed and built using strategies aimed at achieving high performance in five key areas of human and environmental health: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, and indoor environmental quality.
